ADOLESCENTS
I have extensive experience working with adolescents who are learning how to manage their emotions and develop their identities. Today, adolescents face enormous pressure to succeed at an early age. The weight of meeting family and school demands often feels overwhelming and allows little time for teenagers to discover who they are, what their interests are and what makes them happy. Therapy is a vehicle for teenagers and pre-teens to explore these questions and also determine how to be successful within their demanding environments while establishing a sense of self.
In my private practice, I have helped teens who are:
Feeling confused about who they are
Struggling with pressure surrounding grades and getting into college
Don’t know how to talk to their parents and feel heard
Struggling with their weight and bodies
Feeling alone
Feeling sad, anxious or constantly worried
